These products are especially useful in industries where they are constantly exposed to harsh environments. Waste water treatment, oil
refining, chemical processing, and outdoor landscaping are just a few that benefit from these enclosures.
Outdoor enclosure for the protection of electrical systems must be able to withstand a variety of
elements and environmental hazards. There part in keeping the system running properly as well as protecting
the user is as important as the system is itself. Chemicals, water, dust, UV rays, impact from foreign objects
and heat are all factors that can effect the performance of the outdoor enclosure.
Plastics and composites have taken the lead in the manufacturing of outdoor enclosure as they are more cost
effective and are compatible in more situations. They can be molded into any number of standard shapes and
sizes as well as custom applications. Small junction, in line and multi hole pushbutton, wall mount,
telephone control, and control towers are just a few of the product lines available.
There are a variety of configurations in each product line to accommodate all kinds of electrical system needs. All of them are
highly rated and meet NEMA 4X, 6P standards and most are submersion rated. There are a couple of options
available to ensure they meet the needs of the customer. They have a number of securement methods, window
covering options, field interchangeable covers and hardware. Outdoor enclosure are typically put through
many different stress factors that can effect there usefulness and life expectancy.
Outdoor enclosure have many physical properties that make them superior to there steel or aluminum counterparts.
The resin system includes a flame retardant that gives them a flammability rating that meets UL 94-5V standards.
The heat distortion temperature is at least 350 degrees. Standard cover screws are stainless steel or stainless
steel with fiberglass encapsulated heads. Back panels are fabricated out of marine grade aluminum and are also
available in carbon steel, stainless steel, or fiberglass.
External mounting feet are molded or securely attached
to the enclosure providing a corrosion resistant surface mounting system. These factors plus many more give
outdoor enclosure the advantage over any other products available. The most important advantage is there cost. They
are significantly more cost effective than steel products.
Steel prices are always on the rise making there cost unpredictable. They last longer therefore lowering maintenance costs which in turn lowers possible repair
or replacement costs of the internal system they are protecting.
