Melvin has been through 2 Boot Camp sessions, bringing along members from the sugar industry, and plans to bring others on another trip in 2006. Before joining the electrical industry in 1979, Melvin played football in college and was a high school football coach for 16 years. He spent 11 years coaching at a catholic high school in Louisiana, and then spent 5 years at a public school. He maintained a 32-12-2 record and went to the playoffs 3 out of the 5 years there. Since his coaching days, Melvin has maintained a high level of enthusiasm for the sport.

Stahlin wrapped up their first Boot Camp for 2006! This was an extra special boot camp with guests from the United Kingdom and western Canada. Along side this international group were representatives from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Indiana.

The DiamondShield Shootout record was challenged by Steve Williams of Spelsberg, but fell short with a time of 5:38. Terry Mocker of Spec Tech Ind. still holds the record at 4:41.
